On the 10th December 2009, "Food festival" began, about many various products in connection with the food on Thallakulam Ground in MADURAI.
This meant:
-How to prepare it:
We used to eat every day and, sometimes, we forget how to change our way of cooking. We, may be , have no time for this because, we are busy, running all the day, we don't like, much, to change our habits, we think it is difficult to change them. In such a festival you remember simple manners about cooking. They cook in front of you so, it may be interesting to remember how to manage.
-What different foods may be offered:We, often, eat usual food with sauces or fried... Why not try grilled food for instance, kebabs, tikkas...
Here are, also, other tastes like: Chittinad dishes, Chinese food, Pizzas Dominos, Bar-b-que, variety of Doasa and biriyanis...
When it is lighter for the stomach, it, may be, better for health.
-About what occasion? :
Many, good hotels may prepare meals for small to very big parties.
Here, the choice is hard and you need to test the dishes, to know, exactly, what you're looking for, the prices, the service quality,. you may ask any question, compare, choose quietly, and, the most important, you don't have to run every where. You have a pannel of different foods you may have for you or offer.
-Special food for people with health problems :
We must not forget that some people have problems with their health...
In special establishment, they are able to prepare special foods (non fat, with no sugar, no salt, against allergies...) because they have enough space while, in small structures, they have no time or not the staff to prepare it.
So, they can ask to these specialists to do the right preparations with the exact balance of food and ingredients.
Of course, here, you can check all the different ways they care about doing the dishes.
-How to make cook's life easier:
You may find here, products, already, existing or new products.
It starts with the rice or vegetable cookers. You, just, need electricity and a little water. You keep all the vegetables vitamins, it's fast (just plugged), economic (no need much electricity) and not bigger than an ordinary pan. The price is quite reasonnable and some are new indian made products.
You may find, too, electric chappathi cooker. You, just wait it is hot enough and, start making as many as you wish...
They present, too, water heater to fix on the wall with a reserve of, always, 3 litres of hot water.
As well, you may find micro waves, mixers, any thing to help in the kitchen...
You may find surprising things, such as, an automatic door opener with the finger imprint, the hand palm...
-Do not forget fruits...
As a matter of fact, there is a point, not to forget is to complete main meal with fruits.
We may use them raw, cut in salad or ground in mixers. They bring us vitamins that we don't find in cooked food, particularly cooked fruits...
-Some new products:
Pizza, (made on western way but possible to be accomodate with indien ingredients...)
New flavour ice creams (for instance with sugar cane...)
-Products out of the food
We find, too, cauch, arm chairs, rocking chair, motorcycles... They help to make life more comfortable
This festival is to remind us, once more, that food is very important in our life.
It helps in gathering people and, because we need it to live, when we succeed in having it like a feast, it's much better.
The best way to make, every one, happy is in front of a meal, together, with family or friends.
During this festival they will hear much music; every one should feels home, welcomed.
It seems that everyone is pleased to meet each other.
It is also a festival for eyes, ears, taste and the sense of smell. After our transit there, you must feel better and pleased.
This festival is, I am sure, not very easy to prepare because, and you must find room enough for everyone who has a message to give. All is important...
Each of these messages must have an impact on the visitors and catch their attention.
No one must come, hurrying, but, must have enough time to go around, and rest for a short while.
They must be happy to come with the hope of finding or discovering something new.
It is the reason for such a feast and I'm sure, once more, they'll succeed....
When Madurai Messenger (formerly Times of Madurai) decided to devote this issue to a theatre special (to commemorate World Theatre Day on March 27), we had an unexpected opportunity to watch the play Hind Swaraj (based on Mahatma Gandhi's book of the same name written in 1908) performed by Parnab Mukherjee and Cordis Paldano at the Madurai Messenger office.
