In many ways, it is an idea whose time has come. Across the world, we see a renaissance in the practice of medicine. Strangely the word medicine derives from the latin 'medicare' to heal.
Since when did practitioners of medicine move from being healers to dispensers of cures for targeted body parts? The wheel has come full circle.
Practitioners of both traditional systems of medicine and modern medicine now increasingly realise the need for interdependance and complementarity. It is this realisation-- the need to treat the patient as a whole and not just a diseased entity that signals a collaboration between different systems of medicine for the greater common good.
